Dr. R. Csar Izaurralde is laboratory fellow at the Joint Global Change Research Institute (JGCRI), a collaboration of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with the University of Maryland- College Park. He is also adjunct professor in the Department of Geography, University of Maryland. Dr. Izaurralde is a soil scientist with expertise in agronomy, soil science, and ecosystem modeling. His current research aims at developing robust modeling methods for evaluating the impacts of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems and water resources. His research also examines mitigation options in agriculture and energy through soil carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emission reductions, and the sustainable production of biofuels. Dr. Izaurralde has contributed to the two national assessments conducted in 2000 and 2008 to evaluate the impacts of climate change on agriculture, water resources, and terrestrial ecosystems. Dr. Izaurralde is Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy, Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America, and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
