Kate Calvin is a research economist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Joint Global Change Research Institute in College Park, MD.  Her research focuses on model development and scenario analysis with both the Second Generation Model (SGM) and the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM), JGCRI’s two integrated assessment models.  Her recent work has examined the impacts of bioenergy on land-use, the implications of delayed participation in climate stabilization scenarios, and the influence of second best policies on environmental effectiveness and economic efficiency.  She received BS degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Maryland and MS and PhD degrees in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
