FromĀ Department of Geography, UMD
Ariane de Bremond's research supports work related to the understanding of vulnerability and resilience to climate change and climate change adaptation approaches in the following areas: research on indicators of resilience and vulnerability and adaptation metrics and on the relationship between climate change and development goals, development of socio-economic narratives/scenarios in support of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability WGII report, and corresponding efforts related to the regional integrated assessment modeling initiative at JGCRI and the US National Assessment. Specific tasks include development of tools to construct future scenarios and narratives related to economic, social, and environmental contexts under alternative development and adaptation pathways to various user communities, development of assessment tools for measuring the capacity of Climate Change Adaptation Interventions(CCAIs) to identify range of exposure, intended effects of interventions, as well as the effectiveness of interventions to support adaptation needs.
