What are developing countries doing to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions?
Abstract:
Advanced International Studies Unit (AISU) worked with six large developing nations to help answer this question. While most reductions in carbon emissions were driven by economic reform, energy security, or local environmental concerns, the impact on global climate has been significant: these six countries have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 300 million tons a year over the past three decades. Without these actions, Brazil, China, India, Mexico, South Africa, and Turkey would now be emitting 18 percent more greenhouse gases each year.
