Postdoctoral Fellowship on energy and environmental policy in India at The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The postdoctoral fellow should have already received a Ph.D. degree in energy/environmental/climate economics/public policy or related fields with a special research focus on India. He/she should have a track record, through publications or Ph.D. thesis, of one or multiple major computational energy economics models including but not limited to TIMES (The Integrated MARKAL-EFOM System) and GAINS (The Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollution Interactions and Synergies).

The appointee will be based in the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at CUHK under the supervision of Prof. Yuan Xu (http://www.grm.cuhk.edu.hk/eng/people/ppl/fac_XuYuan.html) as well as Prof. Carlos Lo (http://www.gpa.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/people/academic-staff/faculty/prof-carlos-lo-wing-hung). The job duty primarily involves research on energy development, environmental pollution control and climate mitigation policies in India. Building upon the research team’s existing capacities, comparative analysis will be conducted between India and China.

The initial appointment will be made for one year and will be filled as soon as a good candidate is identified. The expected date to report duty will be in the summer or autumn of 2019, considering the time for possible work VISA application. Salary will be globally competitive together with medical and retirement (MPF) benefits. Hong Kong has a very low income tax rate (https://www.gov.hk/en/residents/taxes/etax/services/tax_computation.htm). Funding has been secured for contract renewal, but satisfactory performance should be achieved.
