Two groups lead the Joint Institute’s activities on global change:
Climate Change Economics, Technology and Policy
This group brings together economists, physical scientists and engineers to assess the future growth of greenhouse gas emissions and to analyze the impact of technologies and policies for the mitigation of these emissions. In this regard, the group develops and utilizes energy and economic models and Integrated Assessment models for their analysis.
- More information and documentation of the models developed at JGCRI can be found on the Models page, where a version of the Second Generation Model is now available for distribution
- The group maintains a special site on the Global Energy Technology Strategy Program.
- For a series of analyses on energy research and development, visit the Energy Trends web site.
Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability
Our Impacts research focuses on understanding the potential impacts of future climate change on agriculture, water resources and unmanaged ecosystems and the potential role of soil carbon in climate change mitigation. The goal of our Vulnerability and Adaptations research is to develop and apply methods for assessing the vulnerability of natural resources and socio-economic systems to climate variability and change.
