Overview of the 2012 Combined GCAM Community Modeling Meeting and GTSP Technical Workshop
For the first time, in 2012, the GCAM Community Modeling Meeting was held concurrently with the GTSP Technical workshop. A draft agenda for the combined meetings is now available.
For GTSP Presentations and Agenda for 2012, please go to the GTSP Annual Meetings
The GTSP Technical Workshop took place on September 19th and 20th. The Technical Workshop covers ongoing, cutting edge research in integrated assessment modeling from researchers at JGCRI as well as members of the GCAM community and other collaborators. The Technical Workshop is informal and interactive; it provides an important opportunity for participants to exchange information on technical results and findings and to discuss future research directions. This year’s topics include: Energy, Technology, and Mitigation (9/19), National and International Climate and Energy Policy (9/19), Integrated Assessment Community Research Activities (9/19), Water Resources and Use (9/20), Land Use and Land Cover in Climate Mitigation (9/20), Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation (9/20).
The GCAM Community Modeling Meeting will take place on September 18th, 19th, and 20th, running in parallel with the Technical Workshop on the 19th and 20th. The Community Modeling Meeting will include sessions covering the current status of GCAM, future development directions, a tutorial on using GCAM, and user training. The Community Modeling Meeting is a unique opportunity to learn about GCAM capabilities, directions for future development, and research activities. It is also a unique opportunity to interact directly with the JGCRI staff dedicated to development and use of GCAM and to network with other researchers utilizing GCAM. The first day of the meeting, on the 18th will be devoted to presentation and discussion of the current status and capabilities of GCAM and current and future GCAM development directions. There will be a tutorial on using GCAM on the morning of the 19th and repeated on the morning of the 20th. Members of the JGCRI staff will be available in the afternoon of the 19th and on the 20th to provide technical support to participants.
